“Red on the Wall” was featured in my art show ‘Art and Freedom’ at the Cultural Olympiad Athens 2004. It measures 27″x39″x1.25″ and is created using industrial oils on canvas. This artwork was inspired by and created in memory of the sacrifices of the Greek Freedom Fighters executed by the Nazis in Athens, Greece, during World War II. Precisely, it visualizes a wall in Kaisariani, Athens, where the infamous mass executions known as “The 200 of Kaisariani” took place on the First of May 1944 as a reprisal for the killing of a German general by Greek Resistance forces.
