“Christeas’ brushstrokes become whispers of wisdom, his colors fragments of dreams.” — Ann Williams, ArtMuse

Famous abstract artist Gregory Christeas marks a powerful new chapter in his lifelong creative journey with The Parallels Series—a culmination of emotionally charged seascapes and bold techniques that have earned him international recognition.
Inspired by the rhythmic, parallel motion of the sea, his new body of work evolved over two decades—beginning from his early Waterfront Series into something fully realized: textured, resonant, and emotionally alive.
What began as a study of rhythmic movement transformed into something more profound—a meditation on transparency, depth, and soul.
Using wide 4″ to 8″ spatulas, Christeas applies thick paste paint in long, uninterrupted strokes. Only the paint touches the canvas. This technique creates layers that breathe—colors blend and pull apart—revealing a tactile texture that feels organic, even irresistibly touchable.
Each piece becomes a passage in his visual language of rhythm, memory, and emotion. His compositions originate from experiences, offering a vision that is both timeless and deeply personal.
Artist Christeas’ Creating Process
Artist Christeas spends a great deal of time in solitude when creating his abstract paintings, focusing on channeling his thoughts inspired by his life experiences.
This process takes a few months at a time, as it is necessary for him to shed all outside influences. This is accomplished by the Artist’s continually drawing and painting dozens of heartfelt spontaneous expressions.
Abstract Artist Christeas refers to these expressions as abstract art notes as primers to his creative process. This repetitious process brings him to his highest spiritual level of creativity. The artist feels as if floating about inside his art studio while his physical self is in front of the easel. When enough art notes are made, and all outside influences are washed away, the artist surrounds himself with his own paintings – upon which he feeds a greater inspiration which leads to masterpieces like the one you are viewing now.
Abstract Artist Christeas reviews his art notes to discover their separate origins and ultimate importance. From here, these art notes act as the only influential source in the creation of the final abstract painting “Masterpiece”.
The following abstract art prints were the ones that the Master had surrounded himself with as an energy source for the creation of the abstract art painting Masterpiece (please see the photo below).
About a hundred more of these “abstract art notes, unwanted influences” were used to start the fire in his fireplace, and I had the privilege of helping. In today’s commercial world where everything is for sale, it is great to light up a fire.
