About the Artwork & Parallels Series

Drifting was inspired by memories of my group of freedom fighters who resisted the Greek military dictatorship that began in 1967. The painting reflects memory in motion—fragments of courage, struggle, and companionship drifting through time.

Gregory Christeas creates infinite abstract forms that transform like a wandering spirit in search of the realization of beauty. This series was developed over six decades of exploring Abstract Expressionism. His forms evoke a Socratic dialogue through the use of tension, contradiction, and gradual revelation. The viewer becomes engaged in an active process of observation, inquiry, and discovery. Every encounter transforms into a personal dialogue between the artwork and the spirit of the observer.

The Parallels series presents the artist’s vision of abstract art as a reflection of human emotion. Each painting in the series functions as a self-portrait of Gregory Christeas, reflecting a lifetime shaped by Greek history, culture, and personal experiences.

By applying metallic and fluorescent pigments in multiple layers, Gregory Christeas creates luminous fields where light becomes a structural, tangible element. His paintings reveal radiant layers of color and light, highlighting the delicate balance between chaos and serenity.
