Floating Spirits is an original abstract painting by Gregory Christeas, inspired by a motorcycle journey through South Dakota’s Badlands that he shared with his son, Elias.

As they traveled through the ancient landscape, Christeas watched the sand drift beneath an expansive sky. Within the endless blue, he began imagining soft yellow forms rising and floating above the land.

Passages of blue, violet, white, yellow, and red move across the canvas like windblown sand and fragments of light. Their movement suggests mysterious spirits carried by the wind and settling quietly into the heart.

The experience became more than a passing moment. It developed into an immersion—a conversation with the Badlands and a feeling of being briefly welcomed into its deep and patient soul.
