Floating Spirits Two — Original Abstract Painting
39½″ × 27½″ × 1¼″
Floating Spirits Two is an original abstract painting by Gregory Christeas and the second of three works inspired by a motorcycle journey through South Dakota’s Badlands with his son.
While traveling through the ancient landscape, Christeas watched the sand drift beneath an expansive sky. Within that endless blue, he began imagining soft yellow forms rising and floating across the land.
Passages of blue, violet, white, and gold move vertically across the canvas, evoking wind, drifting sand, and mysterious figures suspended in light. The experience became more than a passing moment—it developed into an emotional conversation with the Badlands and a feeling of being briefly welcomed into its deep, patient spirit.
Floating Spirits Two was later featured in Gregory Christeas’ Art and Freedom exhibition at the Cultural Olympiad Athens 2004.
