About the Artwork & Parallels Series

Red Pebbles is an original abstract painting by Gregory Christeas from the Parallels series. The work is alive with rhythm, color, movement, and the atmospheric energy of the Aegean Sea. Vibrant red, blue, gold, and metallic accents move across the canvas like fragments of light reflected on water. Rather than depicting the sea literally, the painting allows color, texture, and movement to become the subject itself.

Created through Christeas’ signature technique of repeated passes with wide spatulas, the composition evolves through continuous building, editing, and rebuilding. Each layer partially conceals the one beneath it, allowing earlier gestures and undercurrents of color to remain visible beneath the surface.

Gregory Christeas creates infinite abstract forms that transform like a wandering spirit in search of beauty. Developed over six decades of exploring Abstract Expressionism, his work evokes a Socratic dialogue through tension, contradiction, and gradual revelation. The viewer is drawn into an active process of observation, inquiry, and discovery, turning every encounter into an intimate exchange between the artwork and the observer.

The Parallels series presents the artist’s vision of abstract art as a direct reflection of human emotion. Each painting functions as an interior self-portrait, shaped by Greek history, culture, and a lifetime of personal experience.

By applying metallic and fluorescent pigments in multiple translucent layers, Christeas builds luminous fields where light becomes a structural, tangible presence. These radiant compositions reveal the delicate balance between chaos and serenity.

Through expressive form and dynamic movement, Christeas transforms emotion into visual poetry that resonates with depth, quiet intensity, and enduring presence.
